垂死之光 Dying Light - Pre-Order DLC Confirmed for Asia English Version!

Techland's Zombie game is looking better and better as it nears release - that's why every gamer should get the chance to try it, especially the Be The Zombie Mechanic DLC!
We've just confirmed that all Asian versions will be getting this, along with other bonuses, so check it out!
BE THE ZOMBIE!

DYING LIGHT (垂死之光)
PlayStation®4 Xbox One™ PC [First Person Action Survival] Release: Jan 27th, 2015

Presented in the first-person perspective, Dying Light attempts to creates a sense of immediacy and dread through choices made during the day and night; with dynamic weather in a hyper realistic open world, survival within a race against time will force Gamers to use every instinct in order to withstand the ordeal of a real zombie apocalypse.
Surrounded by hordes of mindless, flesh-hungry enemies due to a mysterious epidemic, gameplay flows between the relationship of players vs zombies. During the day, they are rambling, docile, and easy to avoid. Yet, in the dying of the light, a nocturnal rage transforms them into inhuman predators with unbelievable strength and aggression.
Can the player prepare themselves for the onslaught until the next day? This is Dying Light, where the hunter during the day turns prey at night.
So how does one withstand such odds? Techland has listened to many fans during the development of Dying Light, and have created many ways for the player to maximize their resourcefulness. In the day, by foraging for supplies, over 100 weapons can be crafted from elemental instruments of blunt destruction to elegant weapons that need finesse. With these, brutal First Person physical combat becomes an ease, especially when the fan-favorite mechanic of individual limb slicing comes into play.
Not every situation is combat focused; with Parkour style movement, the ability to fight or flee gives players freedom of movement and traversal. Whether getting the drop on enemies or escaping after gunfire (sound plays a huge factor in Dying Light), being able to choose the next step and where to go will present a satisfying sense of immersion.
Players can also recruit the help of 3 others, as 4 player online co-op will place emphasis on cooperation; selfish gungho play will not be rewarded, especially when the situation is as desperate as this. With varied and randomized objectives on top of the main storyline, working together to literally survive the night is the priority. Imagine building up a temporary base huddled in fear of what lies in the dark? This will be a standard reality; aside from the transforming zombies, there is also something much more sinister, more intelligent even - almost as if someone else was controlling this creature, for the sole purpose of invading a game...

WHILE SUPPLIES LAST THE ASIA VERSION WILL INCLUDE:
  1. BE THE ZOMBIE DLC - A multiplayer PVP mode where players can invade other games as the "Night Stalker", a terrible beast with enhanced powers and night vision, engineered to bring fear to those you invade in the night.
  2. A brain busting triple weapon pack that includes:
  • Buzz Killer - A Sledgehammer with reinforced handle and working buzz saw attached on its end. Especially effective against big, armored enemies as it cuts easily through their plating. If you had trouble fighting the Demolishers, the Buzz Killer will now make short work of them.
  • Lacerator - An improvised weapon resembling a rake but definitely much more lethal. Its long sturdy shaft is crowned with a head of six shredded blades that cut deep into enemy flesh. With the Lacerator, you can make broad swings that will painfully wound multiple targets at once!
  • Night Club - A steel pipe coupled with a glow tube protected by a metal casing. At night the tube flickers giving scant illumination. But every time you land a critical hit, the tube produces a short but painfully bright flash that blinds all enemies in range, making their execution a mere formality.

Explore Avalon with complete freedom in The Legend of Legacy for 3DS!

THE LEGEND OF LEGACY
Nintendo 3DS™ [RPG]
Release: January 22, 2015
FuRyu's upcoming title The Legend of Legacy may not be on your radar, but the moment you hear who is working on it your interest should be piqued! This Bravely Default look-alike is in the very capable hands of seasoned Square Enix and Level5 legends like Kyoji Koizumi (SaGa) and Masato Kato (Chrono Trigger) to name just a few.
Set on the island of Avalon The Legend of Legacy is designed to facilitate the player's own exploration! The map is actually available from the start of the game, allowing you to discover new maps that will allow you to adventure into all new areas. Since there is no set story-route players must follow you will be free to explore the many secrets of the island.
Exploration is further encouraged with the title's Cartography System. As players roam the island, the map located on the bottom screen will be filled in. This information can then be used as a currency of sorts in Initium City, unlocking various perks and interactions with other characters.
The Legend of Legacy is unique in that the goal of game designer Kyoji Koizumi was to have no quests. Players are instead given a single primary objective to figure out and work towards, in whatever way they see fit, as they explore Avalon and the various ruins found within.
Players will be able to choose their main hero from a selection of seven different adventurers, each with their own unique personality and weapon type, as well as three heroes to add to their party! You can equip any of the available weapon types (sword, great sword, axe, spear, staff, bow and arrow, and the shield) to any character via the menu screen. Intium City will serve as a hub where players can make changes to their party.
The basic combat in The Legend of Legacy will be very familiar to any RPG fan - enemies will visibly appear on dungeon maps as players progress through them and bumping into them triggers turn-based encounters.  However, the title's unique Magic and Spirit mechanics start to paint a very interesting, and moderately complex, picture.
Players can form 'contracts' or connections with spirits of the different elements - water (blue), wind (green), fire (red), and dark (purple) - which will in turn unlock further abilities that you can use called Spirit Arts. The balance of power between the four elements will change over the course of yours battles as Spirit Arts are used by yourself and the opposition.
Character formation (attack, guard, support) is incredibly important in battle and the development team have made it easy to pre-set certain formations with the use of the Roll Shuffle system. Players can create various formations prior to battle and quickly apply them when the situation calls for it.
Finally, The Legend of Legacy has a trade system that will also function with StreetPass. Players will be able to send out a ship to do trade with various other cities, which will bring back various loot including armor and recovery items. The bigger your ship, while more expensive, the more likely you are to get better items!

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin - Upgrades and Improvement Details!

"Your soul is still frail and pallid...
If you proceed regardless, your fate will be more terrible than mere life or death,
But I will not stop you if that is your hearts desire." - Emerald Herald

DARK SOULS II: SCHOLAR OF THE FIRST SIN
PlayStation®4 PlayStation®3 Xbox One™ Xbox 360™ PC [Action RPG] Release: April

As the embargo from Bandai Namco lifts like a fog gate post boss, the true form of Dark Souls II: Scholars of the First Sin can now be revealed. With updated graphics and lighting akin to that of the pre-retail demo build and new upgraded online features, this version can be considered to be the real version of Dark Souls II.
For those who have already taken the scenic route to Dragelic since the much lauded 2014 release of the original Dark Souls II, they'll be pleased to know that this definitive version brings forth a lot of new content making the trip back worthwhile. For those who have not #PREPARETODIE yet, gather round the bonfire, and get ready for a tale like no other.
In Dark Souls II: Scholars of the First Sin, included with the game are all 3 DLCs from the Lost Crown Trilogy: Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King, Crown Of The Ivory King, all highly rated and retain sprawling labyrinth levels of imminent demise highly reminiscent of Miyazaki's (Lead Dev of the Souls series) level design. And while this is expected for any self-respecting GOTY edition, the biggest changes are thus:
  1. The Scholar of the First Sin: A new mysterious NPC will guide the player through the new hazards of Drangleic and beyond - what his presence foretells, we have yet to know...
  2. There's a way to keep enemy respawn! If players now join the covenant "Company Of Champions", enemies will no longer disappear after a set amount of kills.
  3. The number of white phantom summons (co-op) has been increased to 6 simultaneously.
  4. White Phantoms no longer disappear in the middle of boss fights - like Dark Souls, they will stay until either the boss or player dies.
  5. The warp menu will now highlight the top three areas with the most traffic, so players can choose to avoid or invade said locations.
  6. Item descriptions and lore has been enhanced for many items across the board for a deeper understanding of the Dark Souls II universe.
  7. A new item known as the "Agape Ring" will allow players to control their total soul count - the modifier on which online matchmaking is based.
With all these combined, it is indeed time to praise the sun - this fully realized and balanced ode to punishing difficulty is on the top of our lists!

Rodea The Sky Soldier' is alive and well, releasing for 3DS/Wii U in April!

Do you remember the announcement of Rodea: The Sky Soldier way back in 2011? Kadokawa Games' president Yoshimi Yasuda confirmed back in July that it is still alive, and we now have a Spring release set for this NiGHTS-style action game!

RODEA THE SKY SOLDIER
Nintendo3DS™ Wii U™ [Flying Action]
Release: April 02, 2015
Rodea: The Sky Soldier starts on the floating continent of Garuda. Your journey begins when a curious young girl named Ion ventures into ruins and reactivates the fabled robotic Majin solider Rodea. After waking from a 1,000 year slumber Rodea's memory is no more, except for the recollection of a "fierce battle from the past" and the face of a girl who looks like Ion.
As all this unfolds, the Machine Empire Naga has been revivded after 1,000 years of dormancy. Seemingly to be the antagonists of the title, their aim is to take control of the 'Gravity Energy' that resides on Garuda and use it to power their invasion of mechanical soldiers. In order to protect the confused and frightened people of Garuda, Rodea and Ion step up to face the machine army!
While gameplay specifics are scant at the moment, what's been mentioned is that Rodea The Sky Soldier will involve aerial and sky based combat, highly reminiscent of the classic NiGHTs games for the Sega Saturn. In any case, this will mean high speed acrobatic movement with a lot of parabolic loops!
As well, while not 100% confirmed, it's worth mentioning that first-print copies of the Wii U version will include Tenkuu no Kishi Rodea, the original and unreleased Wii version of the game. In the meantime, we will keep you all updated as more becomes revealed about this interesting title.
First-print copies of the Wii U version will inclue the original, unreleased, Tenkuu no Kishi Rodea for Wii.

Return Of The Badass Rumble - KENKA BANCHO 6: SOUL & BLOOD!

Our Product of the week features the return of the badass rumble! From PS2 -> PSP -> 3DS, the latest entrant in the hot-blooded Kenka Bancho series will ask Gamers once again if they can rise to the spot of top dog, delinquent style!

KENKA BANCHO 6: SOUL & BLOOD
Nintendo 3DS™ [Action] Release: Jan 15th, 2015

In popular Japanese culture, high schools represent many things - it is a place of zombies, sometimes a prison, and even a harem. But above all else, and while this is farthest from the truth, high school is a war zone where delinquents with laser beam stare downs battle each other to reign dominant as the Bancho!
Enter Kenka Bancho 6: Soul & Blood, a title which can be described as Yakuza set in high school with elements of Persona's school life. Players will enter the fray between Ryuuji Katagiri and Daigo Asahina in epic throw down between two of Japan's most powerful delinquent bosses.
The story takes place within a 3 year span and begins at the school entrance ceremony finishing at graduation. In between all this time, there will be a multitude of sandbox mini games and activities, from surfing, beach volleyball, part time jobs, mahjong, romance, studying (as to why we don't know) and more! There's even a huge wardrobe for character customization, from the mundane to the iconic (the notorious horse head mask and loincloth is 100% CONFIRMED)!
In the midst of all these life fulfilling duties, to an up and coming delinquent, these are just distractions. In terms of battles, the famous "Menchi Beam" returns - literal lasers emit from your characters eyes as well as your opponents, which leads to an insult flinging mini game pre-brawl. When the fighting starts, there are many special moves and combos, presenting an all out free-for-all fit only for the bancho. And when one runs out of CPU opponents to terrify, there is also a ranking battle mode where gamers can put together a team of five thugs for online fights!
Done up completely in a new style of animation that reflects the classic bancho manga style with a return of the series staple seiyuu (voice actors), Kenka Bancho packs the Souls and Blood of gang honour, delinquency, and the springtime of youth all into one portable package for the 3DS.

TOKYO TWILIGHT GHOST HUNTERS - Finally Localized And Out Next Month!

While some people say that the Kindle is to Books as the Vita is to Visual Novels, that's because each device does it best! And with a title like Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters - a game that we've been waiting for quite some time now, it's great to know that English speakers will now get a chance to play this special game next month!

TOKYO TWILIGHT GHOST HUNTERS
PlayStation®3 PlayStation®Vita [Visual Novel] Release: Feb 28th, 2015

Debuting at the Tokyo Game Show 2013, Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters wowed the crowd with it's novel approach towards role playing and it's extremely beautiful 2D portrait art. The latter is depicted as living breathing images akin to the semi static scenes of Vanilliaware's Dragon's Crown, but with more depth than one could imagine.
This supernatural Visual Novel with Romance elements is seperated into two parts. In the first part, Players will be investigating the mysterious events at the Kurenai Academy High School in a visual novel format. While those familiar with this genre will realize that the choices made will effect the ultimate outcome of the game, the selection of choices in Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters are substantial - players will choose from 5 different emotions and the 5 human senses to convey their desires.
The second part is the battle part, and it is just as unique and uncoventional as the mashup presented in this game. As ghost hunters, players will face the challenge of setting traps on a board like grid with focus on strategy, intuition and risk. There are also many exciting visual effects that signify success and failure as to keep things fresh.
Originally from Arc System Works, ASKYS has brought this game westward, and by featuring high grade Japanese talent - Final Fantasy's Nobuo Uematsu composes the music - Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters is indeed a title for those who enjoy cerebral gaming as well as unique visual novels.

The Monthly Top Ten: Dec 1st - Dec 31st!

Every month, Play-Asia.com ships out a lot of products, but a few really stand out. As a new feature, we'd like to share with you which products were the most popular from November 1st to November 30st. Whether released or still in pre-order, perhaps these are the products you might want to add to your personal agent!
For more information on each specific product, find it through the link in the picture!

[10] GUNDAM BREAKER (PS Vita)
As the sequel to the extremely popular Gundam Breaker, it's no surprise that this Gundam meta-game took to our charts this month. Based on building your very own Gundam model and sending them into action packed 3D battle in various fictional and real life locations - including the famous Gundam Cafe in Akihabara, this genius title took the very elements made Gundam the global success it is today.
With over 10 BILLION combinations of Gunpla through Bandai Namco's Build-A-Gundam feature, and benefiting from the portable nature of the Vita, this is the new and improved version of a Gundam fan's dream! (GPB-04B BEARGGUY's head on every Gundam is ours...)

[9] AMIIBO SUPER SMASH BROS. SERIES FIGURE (MARTH)
Perhaps it's the subliminal residue left behind from chants of "MARTH, MARTH, MARTH" on previous Smash Bros. games, or the world has sudden Fire Emblem love, but it's undeniable that the Marth amiibo is one of the most sought after items on the market.
The real reason though, is that Marth was one of three super rare figures in the first wave in the amiibo line with no news from Nintendo regarding a reprint - as such, the only other place people will be able to find Marth is on the grey markets of the internet.

[8] CONTROLLER ADAPTER FOR WII U + WHITE GC CONTROLLER
Another Nintendo product, the Classic Gamecube controller has been getting ALOT of exposure lately. Especially with the APEX 2015 tournament and post-Smash Bros. for the WiiU, many Gamers have been looking for a way to capture the nostalgia of what is considered to be the "perfect" controller of all time for Smash Bros.
But with Nintendo's shortage of it's 1st party adaptor, our collaboration with periperhal makers Mayflash has filled the void, and there has been quite a bit of media coverage about this bundle. Best of all, this adapter isn't exclusively linked with SSB, and can be used with a pre-existing library of Nintendo games.

[7] NINTENDO 3DS XL (PIKACHU YELLOW EDITION)
One cannot deny the power of the almighty Pikachu.
Number one on our list for November, the demand for a Pikachu 3DS is still quite high. Perhaps it's the rarity, or perhaps it's due to the current Pokecraze as of the Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby release.
And while the price outside is more inflated than a Qwilfish, all we know is that we've kept it at a price much lower than anyone else right now, and we plan to keep it that way until these adorable Pikachu 3DSes find a home.

[6] GUNDAM BREAKER (PlayStation 3)
Now if the PS Vita version above is popular, then the PlayStation 3 version would naturally lead between the two - just by userbase alone, the PS3 still has a huge market share in the console world regardless of generation, and Gundam games have traditionally recieved extremely high demand for this console.
With 1-4 Online multiplayer for it's gamut of modes, it's just always more fun with friends who share the same enthusiam for these famous mechas.

[5] RESIDENT EVIL HD REMASTER
Number 5 for the third time! It goes to show that some games can indeed be considered a classic. With additions to suit contemporary tastes, word is spreading more and more on how this Remaster is a must play for all RE and survival horror fans.
1) The Japanese Version also has English and Japanese Voice and Text Options
2) The jacket cover of the game is reversible and features "BIOHAZARD"
3) There are also several language options: French, Italian, Spanish, & German
4) This is the only known physical version
5) The bonuses on disc are a great added value for fans of RE

[4] PLAYSTATION VITA MEMORY CARD (64GB)
While the 16GB card that comes prepackaged with a brand new Vita is nice, once people realize that digital purchases on the console really unlocks the portability, then the only cure is more memory.
The 64GB is currently the biggest storage solution for the Vita, and with the influx of new games as well as the "free" PSN+ giveaways, it's only natural that so many Vita owners have adapted towards more space.

THE TOP 3, AGAIN:
The chart is once again dominated by the 3 PAL Australian New Nintendo 3DS! Again! 3 times in a row!
(/ .□.) ︵╰(゜Д゜)╯︵ /(.□. )

HONORARY MENTION:
GAMECUBE CONTROLLER ADAPTER FOR WII U & PC USB
Though it's only the beginning of the year, this Mayflash adapter version of the Nintendo 1st party Gamecube Controller Adapter is an extremely in demand item, especially since Nintendo made so few of the original with no real news of when to expect a restock.
We can expect this to be on the top of our list for next month - until then!
Happy Gaming, Gamers!
