TOKYO TWILIGHT GHOST HUNTERS - Finally Localized And Out Next Month!

While some people say that the Kindle is to Books as the Vita is to Visual Novels, that's because each device does it best! And with a title like Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters - a game that we've been waiting for quite some time now, it's great to know that English speakers will now get a chance to play this special game next month!

TOKYO TWILIGHT GHOST HUNTERS
PlayStation®3 PlayStation®Vita [Visual Novel] Release: Feb 28th, 2015

Debuting at the Tokyo Game Show 2013, Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters wowed the crowd with it's novel approach towards role playing and it's extremely beautiful 2D portrait art. The latter is depicted as living breathing images akin to the semi static scenes of Vanilliaware's Dragon's Crown, but with more depth than one could imagine.
This supernatural Visual Novel with Romance elements is seperated into two parts. In the first part, Players will be investigating the mysterious events at the Kurenai Academy High School in a visual novel format. While those familiar with this genre will realize that the choices made will effect the ultimate outcome of the game, the selection of choices in Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters are substantial - players will choose from 5 different emotions and the 5 human senses to convey their desires.
The second part is the battle part, and it is just as unique and uncoventional as the mashup presented in this game. As ghost hunters, players will face the challenge of setting traps on a board like grid with focus on strategy, intuition and risk. There are also many exciting visual effects that signify success and failure as to keep things fresh.
Originally from Arc System Works, ASKYS has brought this game westward, and by featuring high grade Japanese talent - Final Fantasy's Nobuo Uematsu composes the music - Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters is indeed a title for those who enjoy cerebral gaming as well as unique visual novels.

The Monthly Top Ten: Dec 1st - Dec 31st!

Every month, Play-Asia.com ships out a lot of products, but a few really stand out. As a new feature, we'd like to share with you which products were the most popular from November 1st to November 30st. Whether released or still in pre-order, perhaps these are the products you might want to add to your personal agent!
For more information on each specific product, find it through the link in the picture!

[10] GUNDAM BREAKER (PS Vita)
As the sequel to the extremely popular Gundam Breaker, it's no surprise that this Gundam meta-game took to our charts this month. Based on building your very own Gundam model and sending them into action packed 3D battle in various fictional and real life locations - including the famous Gundam Cafe in Akihabara, this genius title took the very elements made Gundam the global success it is today.
With over 10 BILLION combinations of Gunpla through Bandai Namco's Build-A-Gundam feature, and benefiting from the portable nature of the Vita, this is the new and improved version of a Gundam fan's dream! (GPB-04B BEARGGUY's head on every Gundam is ours...)

[9] AMIIBO SUPER SMASH BROS. SERIES FIGURE (MARTH)
Perhaps it's the subliminal residue left behind from chants of "MARTH, MARTH, MARTH" on previous Smash Bros. games, or the world has sudden Fire Emblem love, but it's undeniable that the Marth amiibo is one of the most sought after items on the market.
The real reason though, is that Marth was one of three super rare figures in the first wave in the amiibo line with no news from Nintendo regarding a reprint - as such, the only other place people will be able to find Marth is on the grey markets of the internet.

[8] CONTROLLER ADAPTER FOR WII U + WHITE GC CONTROLLER
Another Nintendo product, the Classic Gamecube controller has been getting ALOT of exposure lately. Especially with the APEX 2015 tournament and post-Smash Bros. for the WiiU, many Gamers have been looking for a way to capture the nostalgia of what is considered to be the "perfect" controller of all time for Smash Bros.
But with Nintendo's shortage of it's 1st party adaptor, our collaboration with periperhal makers Mayflash has filled the void, and there has been quite a bit of media coverage about this bundle. Best of all, this adapter isn't exclusively linked with SSB, and can be used with a pre-existing library of Nintendo games.

[7] NINTENDO 3DS XL (PIKACHU YELLOW EDITION)
One cannot deny the power of the almighty Pikachu.
Number one on our list for November, the demand for a Pikachu 3DS is still quite high. Perhaps it's the rarity, or perhaps it's due to the current Pokecraze as of the Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby release.
And while the price outside is more inflated than a Qwilfish, all we know is that we've kept it at a price much lower than anyone else right now, and we plan to keep it that way until these adorable Pikachu 3DSes find a home.

[6] GUNDAM BREAKER (PlayStation 3)
Now if the PS Vita version above is popular, then the PlayStation 3 version would naturally lead between the two - just by userbase alone, the PS3 still has a huge market share in the console world regardless of generation, and Gundam games have traditionally recieved extremely high demand for this console.
With 1-4 Online multiplayer for it's gamut of modes, it's just always more fun with friends who share the same enthusiam for these famous mechas.

[5] RESIDENT EVIL HD REMASTER
Number 5 for the third time! It goes to show that some games can indeed be considered a classic. With additions to suit contemporary tastes, word is spreading more and more on how this Remaster is a must play for all RE and survival horror fans.
1) The Japanese Version also has English and Japanese Voice and Text Options
2) The jacket cover of the game is reversible and features "BIOHAZARD"
3) There are also several language options: French, Italian, Spanish, & German
4) This is the only known physical version
5) The bonuses on disc are a great added value for fans of RE

[4] PLAYSTATION VITA MEMORY CARD (64GB)
While the 16GB card that comes prepackaged with a brand new Vita is nice, once people realize that digital purchases on the console really unlocks the portability, then the only cure is more memory.
The 64GB is currently the biggest storage solution for the Vita, and with the influx of new games as well as the "free" PSN+ giveaways, it's only natural that so many Vita owners have adapted towards more space.

THE TOP 3, AGAIN:
The chart is once again dominated by the 3 PAL Australian New Nintendo 3DS! Again! 3 times in a row!
(/ .□.) ︵╰(゜Д゜)╯︵ /(.□. )

HONORARY MENTION:
GAMECUBE CONTROLLER ADAPTER FOR WII U & PC USB
Though it's only the beginning of the year, this Mayflash adapter version of the Nintendo 1st party Gamecube Controller Adapter is an extremely in demand item, especially since Nintendo made so few of the original with no real news of when to expect a restock.
We can expect this to be on the top of our list for next month - until then!
Happy Gaming, Gamers!

Experience two sides of Japanese history in Ukiyo no Shishi and Roushi!

UKIYO NO SHISHI / UKIYO NO ROUSHI
PlayStation®3 - January 29, 2015
PlayStation®Vita - February 11, 2015
Spike Chunsoft are releasing a pair of samurai games for both the PS3 and PSVita in February, each with their own story. Here's the kicker: the First Print bonus for both versions will include a discount code for the alternative version, as well as the "Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki" sword for PS3 and the "Kaga Kiyomitsu" sword for PSV.
Both versions of the game take place during the Bakamatsu, a period of uprising in Japanese history that marked the final years of the Tokugawa shogunate. The PS3 and PSV versions will each tell a very different story from the two opposing perspectives of the conflict.
The ukiyo-e art style is highly associated with this period of Japanese history, so much in fact that Spike Chunsoft have dedicated the "Ukiyo Engine" to allowing players to transform their surroundings to look like that of a ukiyo-e painting.
In Ukiyo no Shishi, the PS3 title, the story revolves around the 'Ishin Shishi', a group dedicated to the anti-shogunate side of the conflict who favored the return of the Japanese imperial house to power. At the heart of the story lies the historical figure Sakamoto Ryoma who has lost his memory in the game and sets off to regain his identity one step at a time with the help of other historically-inspired characters.
Meanwhile Ukiyo no Roushi, for PSVita, switches focus to Okita Yoshijiro, a young man who is following in the footsteps of his uncle Okita Souji in joining the Shinsengumi, one of the groups who readily oppose the Ishin Shishi. Assigned as an inspector under the famous Saito Hajime Okita Yoshijiro must ensure the safety of Kyoto by solving mysteries and revealing culprits. But as the conflict grows Okita will find himself thrown headlong into chaos filled with great menaces and Japanese historical figures.
The combat and gameplay mechanics in both games are the same, with both being largely dependent on the types of weapon being used. 8 weapon classes are currently confirmed to be in the title: Uchigatana, One-handed sword, Odachi (great sword), Ninja sword, Dual swords, Spear, Bare hands, and Gun. Each class of weapon will have a set of unique techniques to use during combat and the experience points earned during your fights can be used to unlock even more abilities.
Save data for both the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita games will be shareable between the two titles including exclusive items, weapons, and costumes.

'Deception IV: Another Princess' includes previous Deception heroines, a Quest Mode, and customization in the Deception Studio!

KAGERO: MOU HITORI NO PRINCESS / DECEPTION IV: ANOTHER PRINCESS
PlayStation®3 PlayStation®4 PlayStation®Vita [Strategy RPG]
Kagero, better known as Deception in the West is a strategy-RPG with a uniquely passive combat system: the primary goal being to exact your revenge on the unsuspecting by setting deadly traps!
Kagero: Another Princess will feature a new protagonist, Valgryie, a nightmare princess and daughter of the devil who haunts people's dreams. The most notable aspect about Valgryie is the fact that she will be able to kick enemies into traps, and even stomp them on the ground, a first for the series.
Another Princess will include the original story mode found in Dark Side Princess (a.k.a. Blood Ties) but the main focus of the new title is definitely the all new "Quest Mode" and "Deception Studio".
Quest Mode will feature over 100 quests filled with tons of new challenges as well as the ability to fight against past Deception and Trapt heroines including Millennia from Kagero: Deception II, Allura from Trapt, and Reina from Deception III: Dark Delusion.
The Deception Studio allows players to customize and edit everything from characters to missions. Players can even collect parts and use them to create new enemies and name them. Overall it sounds like a customization heaven where players will be able to create their own characters and go on custom quests against custom enemies.
Kagero: Another Princess will feature over 170 different traps including the Genocide Eye, Falling Ceiling, and Suezo (from Tecmo's Monster Rancher).

FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 HD
PlayStation®4 Xbox ONE™ [Action RPG]
In the first week after it's Japanese only release, Final Fantasy Type-0 for the PSP enjoyed phenomenol success; by the end of the year, it out sold Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (PSP), Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3), and even Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, making it the best selling PSP title of 2011.
With near perfect scores from Famitsu (39 out of 40) and Dengeki Magazine (91.25 out of 100) this was the game that all Final Fantasy fans needed, but only those with import inclinations and the ability to read Japanese could access.
Now, after a long time of waiting, pleading, and begging to Square Enix, our patience has been rewarded with an HD Version of the game that got away.
The biggest news of all though, is that each and every copy of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD has been officially confirmed to include a demo voucher of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XV!
This demo version is dubbed FINAL FANTASY XV –EPISODE DUSCAE- which will be especially rearranged and edited to contain a part of the opening scenario from the game.
For all Final Fantasy fans, this is indeed one of those moments that define a console generation - from FFVII to FFX, this combination of both games is something to look forward to!

Join the Senran Kagura ladies in full HD - Estival Versus for PSVita and PS4!

SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS: SHOUJOTACHI NO SENTAKU
PlayStation®4 PlayStation®Vita [Action]
Release: March 26, 2015
It is time to hit the beach in high definition, Senran Kagura style!
Estival Versus follows Asuka and the rest of the lovely ladies as they take on new challenges and investigate the strange events taking place on the beautiful island they've decided to relax and wait for you on!
The title's story revolves around the twin sisters Ryona and Ryobi, as well as Ryoki - the third and oldest sister who was thought to be dead. It is claimed that the Kagura Thousand-Year Festival is the source of Ryoki's return.
Speaking of interesting characters showing up, Asuka's grandmother, Sayuri, will be making her appearance in Estival Versus as a playable character! If you are familiar with the clothes-ripping mechanics of Senran Kagura you'll know this could make for some hilarious and entertaining gameplay!
Promotional images have shown both an elderly version Sayuri as well as a much younger representation - leading fans to believe there will be some sort of transformation mechanic in place for her, or even the possibility of two different characters.
The gameplay in Estival Versus is comparable to that of a 'Burst' title, and not dissimilar from the 'Musou' genre. The basic principle is that players fight in a locked off 3D environment against a large amount of enemies, progressing forward once defeating them all. Something very similar to the 'Pair Battle System' which was welcomed by fans in Shinovi Versus will be making an appearance in the Estival Versus.
Senran Kagura Estival Versus includes online multiplayer for both PS4 (10 players) and PSVita (4 players).

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax + Phantasy Star Nova -> Chinese Subtitles!

Two of the hottest imports are now available for pre-order with Traditional Chinese Subtitles!
The popular Dengeki Bunko and the very recent Phantasy Star Nova! 正到爆啊~

PHANTASY STAR NOVA
PlayStation®Vita VitaTV [Action RPG] Release: March 26th, 2015

The Vita-exclusive Phantasy Star Nova is coming out soon! First announced at TGS it looks like we've got ourselves another top-notch Vita title to add to the already jam-packed month of November!
Phantasy Star Nova will be set in the same world as Phantasy Star Online 2 but will drop many of the online elements and take on a much more single player approach. If the idea of playing without your friends sounds horrifying, the game will include 4-player co-op play.
The title takes place on Planet Machia, a planet where 'Photon' energy is useless. Without the ability to recover energy or upgrade your weapons, players must take survival into their own hands, exploring the planet of  Machia and unlocking the secrets it has to offer.
The creatures inhabiting Machia are giant beasts appropriately named 'Gigantes.' In order to take these massive brutes down, you'll need to find and hit their weak spots together with your allies.
Sega also implemented tweaks based off the Phantasy Star Nova battle demo into the game. After the first demo, tri-Ace increased character movement speed by 1.4x, reduced input delay, fixed issues with locking on to enemies, and fine tuned the speed of the camera, among other improvements.

Tearaway takes players on an adventure through a vibrant world made of paper alongside your new friend Iota (or the female Atoi), a plucky messenger with a unique message to deliver to YOU but the pesky Scraps aren't going to make that very easy!
Tearaway is a third person platformer that really opens itself up to the imagination of the player. It is actually developed by the same team (Media Molocule) who made Little Big Planet, another fan-favourite also largely inspired by player-imagination.
This paper world is small enough to hold in your own two hands, allowing you to reach into the game with your god-like powers and manipulate it using nearly every single one of the PSVita's various input sensors. Pull trees out of the ground, smite enemies, and take full control of the world around you!
Papercraft can even be brought out of the world, as players can collect papercraft designs in-game which can be printed out which is a lot more fun than you might initially expect!

FINAL FANTASY EXPLORERS
Nintendo 3DS™ [Action RPG]

Final Fantasy Explorers is an upcoming quest-driven action RPG with many elements similar to Final Fantasy Chronicles (GameCube) and the Monster Hunter franchise. The premise of the game is that the titular Explorers are hunting the world for crystals, the source of life and civilization, which are guarded by fearsome beasts and summons from the Final Fantasy franchise.
With 4 player co-op (online and adhoc), FF Explorers is also one of the first games to use the extra buttons on the New Nintendo 3DS.

SHINING RESONANCE
PlayStation®3 [JRPG]
The Shining series goes as far back as 1991, having a presence on the Sega MegaDrive, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation Portable, mobile phones, and now the PS3! The series installations are fairly disconnected from each other, usually loosely connected through geographical or character acknowledgement by characters, with a few exceptions within the series.
So how do you correctly revive a longstanding fantasy RPG series? Two words: dragon protagonist!
