In 2008, when the original Valkyria Chronicles came out for the PlayStation 3, people could not believe the step that SEGA had taken with the way it was all presented; with the CANVAS engine, soft palettes and subtle tones came to life where everything seemed sketched with pencil - it was a moment where anime and gaming really meshed into a project of impressive scale. Not to be outdone with just graphics, Valkyria Chronicles had both the story and the gameplay to take this story book experience to another level, and with the recent announcement of the remastered version, seeing these elements enhanced and back at play is something that all gamers can look forward to. Set in an alternate Europe around the 1930s, the region has been split into two factions, the East European Empire Union and the Atlantic Ocean Federal Organization, and for years and years, these two superpowers have been seeking to unify Europe through a large scale war. It is often in times of chaos where Heroes emerge, and in a small, neutral country, such a young man comes forward to join the fight. For those new to the series, gameplay is just as deep as it is accessible; players will move their squad to tactical locations with line of sight indicators to reach the best positions on the battlefield, with factors such as class of soldier, terrain, height, and distance taken into consideration. There are so many varied missions and objectives, that each approach will be different, especially when incorporating the fact that tank warfare is also an important aspect of battle. In between battles, Valkyria Chronicles presents the story literally page by page; cutscenes presented in full animation with voice acting over a storybook background that detail an epic about love, hardship, camaraderie and bravery, all in the face of war and it's horrors. Based on the original, Valkyria Chonricles Remastered will be immensely satisfying to play, and new additions welcome veterans to once again follow Squad 7 into the foray with enhanced visuals (as if it could look any better...) There are 3 new episodes and a new Hard-EX mode for master tacticians!

Manufacturer: Ques Q | Release: October 2016 From the fan-made Touhou Project game Koumajou Densetsu created by Frontier Aja comes a 1/8th scale pre-painted figure of the popular Remilia Scarlet scheduled for release in October 2016! Although Remilia is often depicted in her artwork as a cute and sweet character, sometimes we forget the fact that the owner of Scarlet Devil Mansion is a vampire. Her malicious nature comes to fruit in the fan-made Castlevania style game Koumajou Densetsu: Scarlet Symphony. Standing at 24cm tall, toy manufacturer Ques Q made sure to put in extra details to make sure Remilia looks ready to shed blood! That look on her face is seriously not to be messed with. We have no idea what has been done to Remilia for her to be able to achieve that evil look in her eyes. Perhaps Reimu gave her a bad apple? We'll never find out. We do know that this figure is a masterpiece and gorgeous to the point that all Touhou Project fans should put it into their collection!

When she is corrupted by Angra Mainyu, she is very different than her usual self and is known as Saber Alter! Alter made sure to preserve every detail of Saber Alter in her Stage 3 battle sprit in Fate/Grand Order. Although beautiful, her cold gaze looks as if she could make hell freeze over in a matter of seconds! The complex sculpting on her outfit itself proves how much work was put into remaking every layer in her dress into reality. When posed with her sword, you might as well start running away as it looks like it could seriously impact some heavy damage! This figure is truly a collection piece for any Fate series fan. Or the breast cancer equivalent? An Empire magazine commercial with butt-jokes? A Deadpool review by "Golden Girls" Betty White? Deadpool saving a cat? An Arcade Machine For Your Figures! 1/12 ASTRO CITY ARCADE GAME MACHINE [SEGA TITLES] Manufacturer: Wave | Release: July 2016 You have probably seen alot of posing props for figures such as train compartment, houses, and even toilets! Video gamers have dreamt for the day that their figures can play the retro style arcade games for so long, and finally that day is soon to come. Our favorite figurines can now pose to the 1/12th scale Astro City Arcade Game Machine! Toy manufacturer Wave have previously released a few props into their Memorial Game Collection series, but this is the first time they included one of the old retro models of the arcade machines. If you have a few of these Astro City machines, you can even park them together to create a line just like you would see at a game arcade! It comes with three sets of screen card and plates from SEGA titles such as Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers, and Die Hard Arcade. The figmas from Virtua Fighter displayed in the picture are sold separately. The Astro City Arcade Machine is scheduled for release in July 2016. We just cannot wait for them to arrive at the Play-Asia.com office so our toys in the warehouse have something to do while they wait for a home!

Kadokawa Games and Dingo have announced two new love simulators for the PlayStation Vita produced by Ichiro Sugiyama (Photo Kano): Reco Love: Blue Ocean & Reco Love: Gold Beach. Both versions of the new game share the same characters and setting, but the story developments and events with heroines will differ. Although all the characters appear in both games, between Blue Ocean and Gold Beach, almost everything is different, from the story to the free event scenarios and "Reco Session" poses. Both games are fully voiced, and between them both there are a total of 40,000+ voice files! The player-controlled protagonist of the Reco Love is a second-year high school student who attends Mitsumi Academy, a school that consists of every grade from elementary to high school. While attending a two month long summer vacation at "Mitsumi Camp," he will develop relationships with the various heroines, ultimately resulting in the goal of confessing his love at the Mitsumi Festival on the final day of camp. In addition to the photography theme found in the likes of Photo Kano, the title will also be expanding towards an overall "video" theme for the love simulator. Through the title's newly developed "Reco Session" feature, players will be able to shoot a short video of the girls. Reco Love makes use the PS Vita's motion sensors, treating the handheld like it's a digital video camera itself. The videos players record can not only be stored within the game's albums, but they can also be converted and saved as MP4 files for easy sharing. Since a single video can be recorded for 30 seconds, it seems the design is to promote sharing on social media platforms like Twitter, YouTube, or Niconico. © 2016 Play-Asia.com. KRAMPUS Directed by Michael Dougherty with 1984's Gremlins as the obvious inspiration, Krampus is a nostalgic throwback to 80s comedy-horror. And a quite successful one too, making around three times its budget at the box office and turning it into a surprise hit. Part of that appeal is the movie's reliance on mostly practical effects for its creatures, which make them genuinely creepy. Combine that with the 80's paranoia-theme of home invasion, spice it up with a little German folklore (always creepy!) and you got yourself a gleeful Christmas carnage!
