Film to "surpass" 2009's One Piece Film Strong World

Fuji TV's Saturday airing of the One Piece Film Strong World anime included a teaser to announce that production on a new One Piece film has been green-lit. The teaser said, "Urgent announcement! Production on the greatest film in One Piece's history — the newest theatrical film which will surpass Strong World — has been green-lit!! The curtain now opens on the first battle in the New World arc on the final seas!!"

Review: Need for Speed The Run is Quick Time Uneventful

Black Box takes the Need for Speed series back to its roots for an occasionally thrilling race across the USA.

A skintight-jumpsuit-clad Catherine Bach hoists open the door of a white Lamborghini Countach, pastes the number "155" over the speed limit sign, and then turns to offer a cheeky wave to the pursuing highway patrolman before slinking back into her supercar and disappearing over the horizon in the blink of an eye. This is not a scene from Need for Speed: The Run -- but perhaps it should be.

45 Best Short Animation For Academy Consideration

oscar-150-transparentLast weekend, the Academy screened the 45 projects that were submitted for Best Animated Shorts consideration. Members of the Shorts and Animation branch of the Academy will vote for the 10 titles to be included on the short list and we will finally learn about the final five nominees with the rest of the contenders on Jan. 24.
Here is the list of the submitted shorts, which is a healthy mix of shorts produced by studios such as Disney, Pixar, Sony Pictures Animation and Warner Bros., international entries from Studio AKA, Platige Image, BreakThru Films, Human Ark, Axis Animation, National Film Board of Canada and submissions from indie animators such as David Levy, David Chai and Koji Yamamura:

Gundam AGE's 2nd-Generation Gundam AGE-2 Shown

Previewed in January product sheet for Bandai's 1/100 Gage-ing Builder Series

A January 2012 product solicitation sheet for Bandai's 1/100-scale Gage-ing Builder Series model figures shows the Gundam AGE-2, the second-generation mobile suit in the Mobile Suit Gundam AGE television anime. The Gundam AGE-2 was previously shown in silhouette, and an earlier image had shown a similar Gundam AGE-2 design with a few differences in coloring and surface elements, along with a Gundam AGE-3 design. According to the solicitation sheet, the Gundam AGE-2 is equipped with a "Hyper Dots Rifle" and a shield. The 1/100-scale Gage-ing Builder Series is listed for a late January release for 2,940 yen (about US$37.90).
Gundam AGE's story covers a century and three generations of Gundam pilots. Asemu Asuno is the son of Gundam AGE's first main character, pilot Flit Asuno.
